“Each December”
Michael P. Lemon (c)
I get this feeling each December
I close my eyes and try to remember
The love we shared, before I left
Gave you my heart, but they took the rest
A military life ain’t close to easy
Protect and serve, while my heart is bleeding
Duty calls and I must leave
Uniform on, with my heart on my sleeve
But this year I’m coming home for Christmas
The only thing that was on my wish list
Just found out my leave was approved
So this Christmas, I’ll be home with you
I get this feeling each December
I close my eyes and try to remember
The love we shared before I left
Gave you my heart but they took the rest
Break:
I’m coming, coming home for Christmas, yeah
I’m coming home to you for Christmas….
….
One last mission, before I go
Trading desert winds for falling snow
Counting down days until I can leave
Counting the nights until Christmas Eve
But on this mission something went wrong
I felt the pain, but then it was gone
I heard a sound, but it’s quiet now
Can’t open my eyes to look around
So when you get this feeling each December
Close your eyes and try to remember
The love we shared before I left
Gave you my heart, but they took the rest
Gave you my heart, but they took the rest….
